Meet the Beacon: Kristi Merritt

Welcome to Meet the Beacon! This week, get to know Beacon People’s Networking Coordinator Kristi Merritt.

Kristi enjoys spending her time as a “super volunteer”. In her days as a stay-at-home mom, Kristi was able to use her time volunteering at church and within her community. She also loves to connect with like-minded women and because of this, found herself connected with Beacon People. Kristi particularly loves the Coffee & Connection events as networking stories are her favorite! To connect with Kristi, reach out via email at kristi@beaconpeople.org

Q: What does being a beacon mean to you?

A: A beacon of light comes to mind. I want to be someone who is encouraging and can shed a positive light onto situations. I also want to point to the ultimate light source, our Creator, Lord and Savior! I enjoy working for higher purposes and helping in Kingdom-work, large or small.

Q: What is something people don’t know about you?

A: I am a Talent Acquisition Specialist for Lifeway Christian Resources and have 8 years recruiting experience. I can help people brainstorm if they are looking for a new job or have any job search questions.

Q: What is a phrase that defines you?

A: Being over Doing. I have learned that who I am in Christ is much more important than what I am doing for Christ. I "do" because He loves me, not so he'll love me more.

Q: What is a fun fact about you?

A: I am co-leading pathFinder right now and one of the exercises is to make a Bucket List. I decided to get a little help from ChatGPT so I put in a few travel ideas and things that I love like sunsets, painting and yummy food. Now on my list is to paraglide over the Swiss Alps, paint a landscape of Switzerland, and take a guided tour along the Amalfi Coast in Italy, among many other ideas!

Q: What is something you’re really looking forward to?

A: Next summer we are taking the kids to California to explore Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur, Yosemite and Tahoe. Then my oldest and husband are going to the JH Ranch camp in Northern California for a parent/teen retreat. I think it'll be a great time for intentional conversation and exploring!
