Hey Beacon People - We can shine this summer!

Dear Beacon People,

Just this week, as I sat on my porch, talking to God about all sorts of things I glanced right in front of me and there was this tiny Johnny Jump Up flower that had sneaked through the darkness, reaching up for the light and had decided to bloom! In that moment I knew God was speaking. I needed reminding that, with His help, I can bloom in all sorts of challenging places.

We’ve hardly connected since the famous year of 2020. I’m so happy to reconnect today to show you this picture. This can be us in June of 2021 blooming out of the deconstructed places of our lives. When we pray, He listens. (See below!)

When God Looks at You What Does He See?

Not long ago, I spent time with two friends catching up on the details of our busy lives. Our conversation took us down a winding road and we began to discuss how we see ourselves. We all agreed that we found it challenging to appreciate our worth as children of God. While we agreed we are fearfully and wonderfully made by Him, we also agreed that this can be hard to believe. We spoke of the voices in our heads that continuously tell us we are worth nothing, the voices that we constantly attempt to ignore.

As we continued talking, one of my friends grinned. “I haven’t told y’all this, but I met a guy online and he seems to really like me,” she said. She told us about a handful of dates on which they had been, adding bashfully that he constantly showered her with compliments. She went on to say, “He compliments me in such a heartfelt way that it makes me feel different about myself.” She paused. “I wish I could see myself like he sees me.”

At that moment thoughts began to fill my head. My friend had described how so many of us feel about God. We know Him, but we don’t truly believe that what He says about us is true. We seem to be unable to see ourselves as He sees us. According to Him, we are His children, His creation, and we are special, gifted, and unconditionally loved. Why, like my friend, do we have so much trouble believing the truth about ourselves?

I believe the secret lies in John 10:27,

“My sheep recognize my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.“

The way to recognize someone’s voice is by being around them a tremendous amount of time and getting to know them. The joy of knowing your Father’s voice comes from spending rich time together. You are then able to receive His messages of adoration for you. When God looks at you He sees a pretty special human because He is your Good Shepherd and you belong to Him. Be with Him more and you will begin to see yourself as He sees you. You will hear it in His voice.

New Faces at Beacon People

“The idea that God created us with unique personalities, gifts, and desires has always excited me. I recently had the privilege to work through pathFinder: A Journey Toward Purpose, with Anna Nash, as her coaching client. During that time of seeking, God showed me how clearly my passions and personality align with Beacon People’s mission: to guide, connect, and launch purpose-driven people into God’s calling for their fulfillment and His glory. As a life coach, it thrills me to now offer the pathFinder experience to others and pray that they also experience God’s love and grace like never before. In addition to life coaching, l will also connect purpose-driven people with local volunteer opportunities that align with their passions. God has truly granted my heart’s desire by allowing me to join the Beacon People team.”

“I have the privilege of supporting Anna as Project Organizer by planning and executing ideas that propel Beacon People's mission of Guiding, Connecting and Launching life-giving opportunities while shining the light of Jesus. This fall I plan to launch Career Search Coaching under Beacon People. I can provide guidance to anyone who is trying to figure out what to do for work, thinking about a career move, or in the middle of a job search. I have 7 years of corporate recruiting experience and one year of career search coaching experience. I will teach job seekers and equip them through coaching sessions -- as many or as little as they need for guidance and accountability.”
